Information disclosure is very important to realize Good Governance in encouraging good, transparent, participatory and accountable governance. This has been regulated by the government with the issuance of Law (UU) Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure. The law states that every public agency is obliged to submit information openly to the public as a form of accountability to the community.

The duties, functions and authorities of BPS-Statistics (BPS) are stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 86 of 2007 concerning the Central Bureau of Statistics and Regulation of the Head of BPS-Statistics Number 7 of 2008 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of BPS-Statistics.
